Stainless Steel Plate & Sheet Supplier
Stainless steel sheets and plates are everywhere, from the automobiles people drive between destinations to the buildings they use for home, work, and play. Texas Alloys & Tool can deliver this high-performance metal alloy in various grades, thicknesses, and lengths to meet your construction, manufacturing, or fabrication needs.
What is a stainless steel sheet and plate?
Stainless steel sheet and plate are iron-and-chromium alloys with specified thicknesses cut to set lengths. Generally speaking, sheets are thinner than plates. They are ideal for applications that desire high strength, resistance to corrosion, or aesthetic flair.
These alloys contain at least 10.5 percent chromium by weight. The chromium content forms a robust and invisible corrosion-resisting oxide film on the material’s surface. Exact performance characteristics vary by grade, but here are common attributes of stainless steel sheet and plate:
- Corrosion resistance
- Fire and heat resistance
- Easy to clean
- High strength-to-weight ratio
- Easy to fabricate
- Exceptional aesthetic value
- Recyclable
Applications of Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate
High strength, resistance to corrosion, and low maintenance make stainless steel sheet and plate ideal for use in various industries. Examples include:
- Architecture
- Oil & Gas
- Machine Shops
- Metal Fabricators
- Power Plants
- Maintenance Departments
- Food Processing
- Power Generation
- Aerospace
Your Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate Source
Texas Alloys & Tool carries a wide range of stainless steel sheet and plate products, enabling us to quickly and affordably fulfill client material requests. Whether you need a standard sheet and plate or a custom diamond tread plate and expanded metal product, we have the inventory and sourcing capabilities to get the job done.
Stainless Steel Sheet
A thin section of stainless steel. This material is valued for its resistance to corrosion, longevity, and formability. Typical uses include construction, food processing, oil and gas, transportation, chemical, marine, and textiles.
Stainless Steel Plate
A thicker version of stainless steel sheet. It’s easy to form and has a clean, attractive appearance. This product is malleable but doesn’t compromise strength, making it suitable for many construction, manufacturing, and fabrication purposes.
Diamond Tread Plate
Diamond Tread Plate, commonly called Diamond Plate or Tread Plate, is a stainless steel plate with raised diamond shapes. These shapes increase traction, reducing slip-and-fall hazards. It’s ideal for structural, architectural, and cosmetic applications
Expanded Metal
Expanded metal is a type of stainless steel sheet metal that has been cut and stretched to form a metal mesh-like material. It’s typically used to construct fences and grates and as metallic lath to support plaster or stucco.
Industry-Leading Grade Selection
An application’s performance hinges upon the materials used in its construction or manufacture. That’s why Texas Alloys & Tool stocks cold- and hot-rolled stainless steel plate and sheet in a variety of grades.
Available Grades | ||||||||

Stainless Steel | ||||||||
303 Stainless Steel | Type 303 is a non-magnetic, austenitic stainless steel grade. It’s easy to fabricate and offers outstanding resistance to heat and oxidation when exposed to temperatures up to 760 degrees Celsius. | Quote »
304/304L Stainless Steel | The most common grade of stainless steel. It can develop high strength by cold working. Its primary benefit is corrosion resistance. | Quote »
310 Stainless Steel | A low-carbon austenitic stainless steel type. It has superb corrosion resistance and isn’t prone to thermal fatigue or cyclic heating. It exhibits good strength in temperatures up to 2100 degrees Fahrenheit. | Quote »
316/316L Stainless Steel | A stainless steel grade that features a heightened amount of molybdenum. It offers increased resistance to chloride corrosion. | Quote »
Alloy 20 Stainless Steel | Also called Carpenter® 20 and Incoloy® 20, this is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy. Performance characteristics include resistance to corrosion, crevice corrosion, and pitting. | Quote »
416 Stainless Steel | A highly machinable, low-cost martensitic stainless steel. It offers resistance to freshwater, acids, alkalis, and air. It’s less resistant to corrosion than austenitic steels. | Quote »
440 Stainless Steel | Type 440 Stainless Steel is a hardenable high-carbon chromium steel. It exhibits good corrosion and abrasion resistance. | Quote »
630 Stainless Steel | A corrosion-resistant stainless steel grade that’s magnetic and easily weldable. It loses some toughness at higher temperatures. | Quote »
17-4 Stainless Steel | 17-4 PH, also known as UNS S17400, is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel. It offers good corrosion resistance and high strength. | Quote » |
