Standard Expanded Metal

Standard expanded metal, abbreviated XM, is the finished metal product right off of the machine. Standard expanded metal is distinct in that its strands and bonds are at an angle compared to the original plane of sheet metal. Because the strands and bonds are at an angle, standard expanded metal is also referred to as “raised” expanded metal. These angles not only allow for air circulation, but also give the sheet added strength and rigidity – making the surface skid resistant.
